Identity verification procedure

Go to the account menu.

Then go to Account & Security.

On the Identity Verification tab, click Verify Now.

There are several levels of verification available on the exchange, which offer different privileges to users.

The basic level is granted after registration on the exchange and confirmation of authorisation.

Lv.1 level is granted upon successful completion of the KYC with proof of identity.

Lv.2 level is granted after confirmation of the residence address.

The advantages of different levels of verification can be found on the ByBit exchange website.

In this guide, we will show you how to verify using Lv.1 level identification documents as an example.

Click on Verify Now to continue.

There are two ways to verify documents during KYC, uploading them from your computer or completing the verification from your mobile device or app.

Select the country of issue of the document and click Next.

To switch to verify your documents on your mobile device or app, click on the type of verification Verify your documents on your mobile.

After selecting the country of issue, select the type of identity document you are willing to submit for verification.

The following documents are suitable:

  • ID card

  • Passport

  • Driver’s licence

  • Residence permit

Click Next when you have selected a document.

Familiarize yourself with the requirements of the document:

  • only copies of original documents (photos) will be accepted, scans and selfies of the document will not be accepted.

  • the document must be valid at the time of inspection, legible and without glares.

Check out these selfie tips:

  • Photographs must be taken in a well-lit room, with no bystanders or objects in the background.

  • The face should be positioned in the full frame when the photograph is taken.

Once you have read the requirements and tips, click Next.

The issuing country will be automatically selected after the previous step when proceeding to the next page. Check if the country of issue is selected correctly, if you have made a mistake, you can change the selection at this step.

Then select the type of identity document and click Next.

At this point, allow access to the camera for the photo, or press Upload manually to continue uploading the photo manually.

To upload a photo from your computer, click on the upload field Upload the front of your document if you are using your ID card or driving licence for verification.

To upload the back of your document, click on the Upload the back of your document box.

Pay attention to the quality of the photo:

  • The photo must be taken face-up.

  • The edges/corners of the document must fit completely into the image.

  • The photo must be of good quality (clear and bright, no glare, no foreign objects).

Once the document is uploaded, click on Next.

The next step is to take a selfie using your computer camera or take a selfie from your phone or mobile app.

Click I'm ready if you want to continue verification from your computer and give permission to use your device's camera if necessary.

Follow the instructions on the selfies page: look into the camera and make a slight spin of your head in a circle to complete.

If you want to continue verification on a phone or mobile app, click on or continue on a phone, or log in to the app and complete the verification there.

To proceed with verification on your phone, copy the link or receive it in a text message on your phone, copy and paste the received link into the address bar of your phone's browser.

Alternatively, go to the mobile app and complete the identity verification procedure there.

To do so, use the Identity verification procedure section of the instructions here.

After uploading your selfie, you must wait for the verification of your documents to be completed.

Usually the verification takes up to 15 minutes, but more often the verification is completed within 2 minutes.

If there are any problems during the document verification stage or if the documents are rejected, you can contact ByBit's support team to clarify the reasons or use their advice.

Once the documents have been successfully verified, the verification status on the page will change to Verification complete.

Done! Identity verification passed, you now have access to additional benefits.

Finish setting up your exchange account and enable additional security in order to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

How to find your UID

UID is an identification number for your account that is assigned when you register and verify your account.

The UID may be needed when contacting support or to keep track of activities in which users may participate as part of their activities by the exchange and its partners.

To view your UID, log in to your account and open the menu.

In the menu at the top right of the screen your UID will be available. You can copy the UID by clicking on the appropriate copy icon.
